When should you start thinking about studying abroad in college? Sooner than you think…

For me, studying abroad in college became a family discussion in high school. Choosing “the right undergraduate college” meant for me, in addition to other things, selecting a school that had a solid study abroad department with a variety of choices to meet my needs and wants.

In a recent report put out in the United Kingdom regarding higher education, this idea of thinking about college study abroad when in high school is heavily reiterated. The report states: “There should be stronger promotion of international awareness prior to university at school level, to inspire and encourage interest before students enter higher education.”

The United Kingdom is currently 25th in the listing of countries that send students abroad while in college.
