Think you know what’s authentically Hawaiian? You might have to think again!
Hawaii is famously known for its beautiful beaches, warm weather, and pleasant people. However, there are some other things that are associated with the state that well…might not be as natural as thought.
For example, Hawaiian women do not wear tops made from coconuts. Quite often, women, under traditional dress manners, would not wear tops besides flower necklaces. (These are real flowers too – not the cheap $1 fake flower necklaces.)
Tiki bars and statues also come to mind when one thinks of the island. However, the tiki figure comes from New Zealand and only made its way to Hawaii after tourism became more active.
It’s important to try to understand any culture from what is authentic or truly belonging to that culture – as FoxNews.com points out.
