Happy International Day of Peace!

Around the world today, various organizations and companies will take a moment to acknowledge the fact that they live in a (relatively) peaceful world. Peace is something that is often taken for granted – with the benefits it provides noted usually in the absence of peace.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon shared a quote specifically about today.

“I urge everyone, between now and 21 September, to think about how they can contribute. Let us work together to ensure that the Road from Rio leads us to sustainable development, sustainable peace… and a secure future for all.”

Also on this day, the Better World Campaign (found here: http://www.betterworldcampaign.org/) wants everyone to remember the efforts that the UN Peacekeeping forces (or “The Blue Helmets”) make every day. The following graph was found on their website.
