Hot and Spicy: Cultural Cuisine

Many Asian and Caribbean islands have hot sauces that change food from simplicity to fire-breathing in flavor. Each area or island has its own unique “special sauce” – resulting in a fiery competition.

The term “hot sauce” refers to something that is made from spicy ingredients. These ingredients may include peppers – with “hot sauces” ranging in “heat” from slightly noticeable to overwhelming and unbearable to eat more than a few pieces.
